Prompt: Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

Prompt Response: A time I paused to appreciate the beauty of nature was when I looked out the window of my home to see that the sky was an orange color. I immediately ran to the balcony to take a better look. I had seen many beautiful sunsets before but this one in particular was different. In that moment of stillness I became so fascinated with it. It was just something I had never seen before. I took multiple photos of it after staring for a while.  Summary: In class we read and annotated "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost and make a one pager on a specific Robert Frost poem. Reflection: I learned that the theme of  "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost is life has many responsibilities, so we cannot stay on vacation forever.

Prompt: In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Prompt Response: A time I had to set a boundary was with my sister. The boundary was that if I tell her to do something she must do it. She was not listening to me beforehand when I told her to do things. As her older sister, I feel that she should have some respect for me. I don't want her to take me as a joke. Putting that boundary in place helped my connection with her because we have lesser arguments about her lack of respect for me.  Summary: In class we did the "Mending Wall" assignment on CommonLit. Reflection: I learned that in "Mending Wall" by Robert Frost, the speaker interacts with his neighbor by working calmly with him to rebuild the wall.

Prompt: Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt Response: Something in my life that changed more quickly than I expected was a friendship. Someone who I was really close with in my sophomore year, suddenly dropped me over the summer. It started off with texts and calls being ignored, then turned into being blocked on everything. It left me feeling confused. I couldn't fathom the fact that we had gone from being friends to nothing. This experience connects to Frost's idea that “Nothing gold can stay” because of the fact I had thought so highly of that person and our friendship, just for them to leave me in the dust unexpectedly.  Summary: In class we read "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost and read and answer questions about "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. Reflection: I learned that gold symbolizes something beautiful, valuable, or a luxury.

Prompt: As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your favorite word and how often do you use it?

Prompt Response: My favorite word right now is unserious. I like it a lot because it can describe so many situations and things. It has become such a common word in my vernacular. I use it at least every other day. I use it a lot when I talk with friends.   Summary: In class we finished our "Climbing Back to Childhood" PowerPoint Presentation. Reflection: Through creating the presentation, I am able to creatively express my connection to the poem "Birches" by Robert Frost.

Prompt: In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Prompt Response: Imagination helps me cope with the challenges or boredom of life by letting me escape into my ideal fantasies. I can be the biggest pop star in the world. I can be a famous actress with many roles. I can be a fashion model walking in Milan. By imagining, I get to ruminate on how these dreams of mine would actually look. It's one of my many coping habits when life gets difficult.   Summary: In class we responded to four questions about the poem "Out Out" by Robert Frost, annotated and read the poem "Birches" by Robert Frost, and started our "Climbing Back to Childhood" PowerPoint Presentation. Reflection: I learned that poise means balance.

Prompt: After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

Prompt Response: A time I faced a high-pressure situation that demanded my complete focus is when I almost burned down my family and I's house. I was warming up a biscuit in the microwave but I failed to remember to take off the aluminum material covering it. I was about to walk away for a moment until I saw a small fire start in the microwave. I quickly cut the microwave off before it could grow. The fire went out a minute after. If I had walked away, the fire could have gotten way bigger than it did. Summary: In class we read and annotated the poem "Out Out" by Robert Frost. Reflection: I learned that rueful means regret.

Prompt Response: Over fall break I just stayed home. I watched movies with my sisters. I was able to catch up on lost sleep. My mom and I cooked breakfast for the rest of our family on some days. The third thing I do is read a good book. All of these things help me find time to enjoy my day. Even if it is busy.  Summary: In class we finished the "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien" assignment on Writable. Reflection: I learned that in an argument paragraph, your overall argument must be logical.

Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response: A time when someone's words had a lasting impact on me is when my internet best friend dedicated a post to me on Instagram. We have been friends for four months but we it feels like we’ve known each other for years. We talk to each other almost every day. One day she posted a sweet message about me on her Instagram story. In the message she described how much our friendship means to her and the little details she loves about me. It touched my heart deeply. Summary: In class we continued the "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien" assignment on Writable. Reflection: I learned that when using text as evidence, the text is not supposed to be analyzed, it should be explained to support the claim.

Prompt: Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt Response: A moment I had to step out of my comfort zone was flying for the first time. My family and I were taking a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. They were able to convince me to go despite my anxieties about the whole thing. Right before we boarded the plane, I thought I could feel my heart almost drop. I was going to face my biggest fears. As the plane was about to take off, I closed my eyes and took a big deep breath.  Summary: In class we started the "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien" assignment on Writable.  Reflection: I learned that an internal conflict is a struggle within a character.

Prompt: Write about a dream that felt real.

Prompt Response: A dream that felt real was one where I escaped from a kidnapper. I was in a room with only a mattress. I wore a long, white gown. The kidnapper was coming in and out of the room. When the kidnapper was out of the room, I discovered a sliding window. I opened the window and hopped out of it. I was running for my life away from the house I was kept in.  Summary: In class we completed "NewsELA- Cancel Culture" assignment and created original sentences for the lesson 3 vocabulary words. Reflection: I learned that boor means a rude or impolite person.

Prompt: Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

Prompt Response: Something I've always been curious about is the longevity of social media. When social media was becoming popularized in the 2000s, it was a cultural phenomenon. The obsession with it still lasts till this day. So many people want to be content creators and it is all we consume now. Although it has a choke hold on the world and will continue, I wonder if it could die out. We don't know what the future will hold for it.  Summary: In class we finished our argument paragraph assignment. Reflection: I learned that in a formal academic argumentative paragraph, I should use the third-person point of view.

Prompt: Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt Response: The best gift I have received is my CD player. My mom had got it for me off of Amazon. It is purple, portable, and can be connected to Bluetooth. Collecting CDs and listening to them is a big hobby of mine. So of course I use my CD player every day. I will always be grateful my mom bought it for me.  Summary: In class we took "Vocabulary for the College Bound Lesson 1 Quiz", took notes on formal and informal language, and wrote one claim for our argument paragraph.  Reflection: I learned that you use formal language for any situation where you have a serious purpose.
