Prompt: If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

Prompt Response: If I had to write a poem about my life right now, it would be about how the difficult times you go through make life more interesting. Living a struggle- free life lacks depth. The low points are necessary to appreciate the high points so much more. It's about finding peace in the madness. Life is no fun through clear waters.  Summary: In class we took notes on how to write a rhetorical analysis.  Reflection: I learned that a thesis from a rhetorical analysis must include the author's name, an adjective, 3 rhetorical devices, a strong verb, and the function. 

Prompt: When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

Prompt Response: When I am in a mood I do not like, I use three main strategies to change my mood. The first strategy I use is listening to music, mainly upbeat pop music. The second strategy I use is taking a walk, it calms me down. The third strategy I use is breath control, taking slow, deep breaths removes the tension. Using effective ways to calm down an unwanted feeling is important, so that unwanted feeling does not take over you. Summary: In class we did the "Scientists finally know why icy surfaces are so slippery" assignment in NewsELA and the two assignments "Missing Your People: Why Belonging Is So Important And How To Create It" and "Social Interaction is Critical for Mental and Physical Health" on Common Lit.  Reflection: I learned that ice is so slippery because of the process of frustration. 

Prompt: Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.

Prompt Response: My personal approach to creativity is going in by brain storming ideas first in my head. Once I get those ideas, I map out those ideas by making a mood board or wiring them down. I then translate them to a rough draft and create the actual project. A project I created that I'm most proud of is these 3 folders we had to make for Biology. It had to have all the content we had learned in each unit. I'm most proud of it because I was able to execute my ideas well and it came out nice. Summary: In class we did the Exploring Vocabulary Lesson 8 in 'The Unlikely Hero' assignment on Writable.  Reflection: I learned that the word 'ameliorate' means to make better; improve.

Prompt: After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response: The rhetorical device I find most effective is a metaphor. It's simple but also complex. The way a simple metaphor like, "time is a thief," is so thought provoking. It can help grasp concepts from the comparison to another one. Metaphors are useful in understanding complex concepts within simpler ones. Summary: In class we took our "Rhetorical Device Test." Reflection: I learned that a rhetorical device that explains complex concepts is an Analogy. 

Prompt: Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response: The vocabulary word that resonates with me personally is livid. This word is significant to me because it's a word that can describe my mood most of the time. My sister agitating me makes me livid. Slow walkers make me livid. There are many things in my life that get me livid.  Summary: In class we did the "Vocabulary Lesson 7" assignment.  Reflection: I learned that the word "surfeit" means an excessive amount.

Prompt: Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Prompt Response: A time I didn't feel like my self was in the 5th grade. We were in class doing a science lab, when I decided to act out. I got in trouble and had to get a punishment. I didn't feel like myself because I had known better. It is unlike of me to get into trouble.  Summary: In class we did the "MLK Rhetorical Analysis" assignment.  Reflection: Through doing a rhetorical analysis of MLK's "I have a dream" speech, I am getting practice doing a rhetorical analysis.   

Prompt: Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Prompt Response: A place where I feel most at peace is my bedroom. It's the only room in my apartment where I have my own space. I get to be alone and having time to myself is calming for me. I like to be my own little sanctuary. Just being away from everyone else.  Summary: In class we learned 3 more Rhetorical Devices (Simile, Metaphor, and Analogy) and did exercises for them.  Reflection: I learned that an analogy makes use of something already well known to explain something that is less well known.

Prompt: Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Prompt Response: When my family and I were going through a rough time, my younger sister was the only source of joy I had during that time. Not only me, but my entire family relied on her to keep our family together. She was the glue. I and no other member of my family would have persevered through that rough patch if she was not here. I am forever grateful to call her my sister.  Summary: In class we learned 3 rhetorical devices (procatalepsis, distinctio, and simile) and did exercises on them. Reflection: I learned that the word "so" can be used in the context of a simile.

Prompt: What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt Response: Life skills I have learned in high school that will help me live independently after high school are time management, communicating effectively, and adaptability. Through juggling school work, extracurricular activities, and my social life, I'm able to manage my time well. Through being in debate and engaging in assignments and projects, I am able to grow my communication skills. By coming to a new school and having to get used to the new environment, It has helped me have good adaptability. I think being able to communicate well and adapt easily are the most essential skills for my success after high school.  Summary: In class we did the "Types of Rhetoric" assignment. Reflection: I learned that Crisis Rhetoric means to reassure the public, manage fear, and restore trust.

Prompt: Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt Response: A time I took a hiatus from something important was from Instagram. It was at the start of 2025, when I had realized the app was over consuming my life. I hadn't been present in the real world, only on my phone. The break positively impacted my life. Breaking the habit of not going on Instagram every second of the day was better for my mental health and social life.  Summary: In class we learned about 3 Rhetorical Devices (Antithesis, Hypophora, and Rhetorical Question) and did exercises for each one. Reflection: I learmed that Hypophora is the technique of asking a question, then proceeding to answer it. 

Prompt: Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

Prompt Response: Hyperbole - Today's lesson in Mr. Rease's class felt so long, watching Avatar would take less time. Understatement - Today's lesson in Mr. Rease's class was kinda easy to understand. Litotes - Today's lesson in Mr. Rease's class was not that boring.  Summary: In class we learned about 3 rhetorical devices (hyperbole, understatement, and litotes) and completed exercises on them. Reflection: I learned that a hyperbole is not meant to be understood literally.

Prompt: In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal goals you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).

Prompt Response: My Holiday Break was just alright. I spent my days catching up on sleep, spending time with family, and planning my re-brand for the new year. I didn't do much but my ideal day is relaxing at home, so I enjoyed myself.  The first goal that I want to achieve this year is reading 24 books. This goal is important because it expands my vocabulary and introduces me to new genres. To accomplish this goal, I will read 2 books a month. By December 2026, I will have read 24 books.  The second goal I want to achieve this year is sticking to a working routine. This goal is important to me because consistently working out is good for my body and helps in obtaining a healthy lifestyle. To accomplish this goal, I will come up with a personal workout routine, and I'll do it 3 times a week. By March 2026, I will have a consistent workout routine.  The third goal I want to achieve this year is to stop being so self-conscious. This goal is important to me because I want to...
